I-X Paneled Frame is a Community Center for Reuse and Repair for the LA based company SUAY who specialize in garment recycling and upcycling. Using underlying logics of the surrounding neighborhood of Frogtown, a design strategy of varying levels of privacy and public space was created. This resulted in open warehouse / workshop spaces, dynamic classrooms / theater spaces, as well as a transformable, variable panel system in the center of the site.

The main focus of this project was constant development through physical models. The semester was spent testing developing systems which could be translated into large scale buildings. The system that was decided on for this project was one of a series of panels passing through a rigid axial frame.

Scale: 1/4”=1’-0”

Materials: Illustration board, wooden dowels, wooden strips, metal mesh.

Location: Frogtown, Los Angeles, California USA

Year of Design: 2025
